Listener messages

When you use Message Joe, we collect your first and last name, city, state, message, email address and phone number. These contact details are required so Joe and the show team can verify or respond to a submission. Do not include private information in the message itself.

How messages are used

Messages are privately stored and automatically evaluated for spam, safety, clarity, relevance, originality and usefulness. Only useful, relevant, interesting or constructive messages are eligible for delivery to the show team. By submitting, you understand that Joe may read or discuss your message on air or share it online. Submitting does not guarantee a reply or broadcast use.

Service providers

We use Supabase for private storage, Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection, OpenAI for automated safety and editorial evaluation, and Gmail for private Listener Wire delivery. Names, phone numbers and email addresses are never sent to the automated evaluator. Selected contact details may be included only in private emails to Joe and the show team.

Security and abuse prevention

We do not permanently store raw IP addresses for this form. Rotating keyed fingerprints are stored temporarily to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. Email addresses and phone numbers are encrypted before storage and are never exposed publicly.

Retention

Rate-limit fingerprints are retained for up to seven days. Rejected messages are retained for up to 30 days. Eligible but unused messages are retained for up to 90 days. Delivered messages and delivery records may be retained for up to one year. Encrypted email and phone data is removed within 90 days.

Your choices

To request deletion of a listener submission, use the show’s official contact channel and include enough information to identify your submission.
